Asian markets were narrowly mixed.

The Nikkei rose .5% to 17,169. Bridgestone was down 1.3% to 2670. Canon was down 1.2% to 6580. Fuji Film was up .3% to 4800. Hitachi was down .8% to 719. Honda was down .4% to 4580. NEC was down 1.4% to 654. NTT was flat at 582000. Sharp was up 1.5% to 2076. Softbank was up .6% to 2400. Sony was up .6% to 5070. Toyota was flat at 7770.

The Hang Seng was closed.

The KOSPI was down .3% to 1,434.

The Straits Times was flat at 2,943.

The Shanghai Composite was up 1.8% to 2,476.
