Markets in Europe were up modestly at 6.30 AM New York Time.

The FTSE rose .4% to  6,244. Barclays was up 1.8% to 762.5. BP rose .7% to 561. BT was up .3% to 318.5. GlaxoSmithKline was down .9% to 1379. Prudential was up .2% to 716. Reuters was up .9% to 442.25. Unilever was down .8% to 1408. Vodafone was up .9% to 147.25.

The DAXX rose .5% to 6,623. Bayer was down .8% to 40.46. Daimler was down .1% to 47.08. Deutsche Bank was down .1% to 101.93. Deutsche Telekom was up 1.2% to 14.62. Siemens was up .8% to 75.97 SAP was up 2.5% to 41.83.   

The CAC 40 was up .5% to 5,543, Alcatel rose .8% to 11.42. AXA was up .5% to 31.27. France Telecom was up .8% to 21.78. ST Micro was up 1.2% to 14.31. Vivendi was up .7% to 30.08.
