Is Lenovo Keeping Dell And HP At Bay In China?

Lenovo, the big Chinese PC company that owns the old IBM (IBM) PC business had mediocre earnings. Revenue was flat at $4 billion. But, the company did well in it home market.

Outside China, shipments were poor, especially to North and South America.

Inside China, shipments rose 17% and accounted for $1.6 billion.

It is critical for Dell (DELL) and Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) to do well in the Chinese market as sales growth for PCs slows in Europe and the United States.

Lenovo’s share of the hot notebook market in China is about 35%. The company claims it is increasing its piece of the market in Asia.

And, that is not good for DELL or HP.
