Markets in Europe were lower in early trading at 5.25 New York time. The FTSE was off .5% to 6,467.

The FTSE was off .5% to 6,467. Barclays was up .3% to 750. BP was down .7% to 573.5. BT was down .5% to 313. GSK was down .4% to 1469. Reuters was down .4% to 492.25. Vodafone was down .4% to 139.8.

The DAXX was down .7% to 7,300. Daimler was down .9% to 60.57. DB was down .1% to 108.84. DT was flat at 13.39. Siemens was down 1% to 87.37.

The CAC 40 was down .4% to 5,836. Alcatel-Lucent was down .9% to 9.25. AXA was down 1.5% to 33.44. France Telecom was down .9% to 20.71. ST Micro was down .1% to 15.23.
