Markets in Asia were mixed.

The Nikkei was off .2% to 17,499. Hitachi (HIT) was down 3.7% to 864. NEC (NIPNY) was down 3% to 587.  NTT (NTT) was down 2.8% to 565000. Sony (SNE) was up 2.6% to 6630.

The Hang Seng was up .3% to 21,009. China Netcom (CN) was up 3.2% to 19.5. PCCW (PCW) was up .8% to 5.01.

The Shanghai Composite rose 1.6% to 4,048.
