Asia Markets 10/8/2007 Shanghai Hits Record

Markets in Asia were mostly higher. Japan was closed for a holiday.

The Hang Seng rose .4% to 27,942. China Netcom (CN) rose 2.9% to 23.45. China Petroleum (SNP) fell 1.4% to 9.83. China Unicom (CHU) fell 4.2% to 15.42.

The Shanghai Composite rose 2.5% to 5,697.
