Markets in Europe were up at 6.20 AM New York time.

The FTSE rose 1% to 6,526. BEA Systems was up 2.3% to 494.25. Pearson was up 2.3% to 793.5. Northern Rock was up 3.1% to 191.2.

The DAXX was up .6% to 7,840. Deutsche Telekom (DT) was up 1.1% to 13.38. Siemens (SI) was up 2.8% to 92.3. VW was down 2.9% to 175.15.

The CAC 40 rose .7% to 5,703. Alcatel-Lucent (ALU) was up 2% to 6.52. ST Micro (STM) was up 1.9% to 11.38.
