Most markets in Asia were higher.

The Nikkei rose 1.2% to 14,183. Canon rose 3.4% to 5520. Fuji Heavy Industries rose 8.8% to 581.

The Hang Seng was flat at 23,272. China Petroleum (SNP) was down 2.1% to 7.60. China Unicom (CHU) was 2.2% to 14.22.

The Shanghai Composite fell 1.6% to 3,024.
