Markets in Asia were sharply lower.

The Nikkei fell 1.8% to 12,834.

The Hang Seng fell 1.7% to 20.906. China Mobile (CHL) fell 1% to 89.60. China Petroleum (SNP) rose 1.3% to 7.69.

The Shanghai Composite fell 3% to 2,325.
