Daimler AG has confirmed that it is in talks with Cerberus over the possible redemption of the 19.9% stake it still has in Chrysler LLC. That would put Chrysler back entirely in US hands, but would still keep it private (for now). If Cerberus wants the rest of the automaker, there is one scheming and possibly self-serving question: Is this an endorsement of the future of the US auto industry? Stay tuned.
