Many markets were closed for the holidays.
In Japan, the Nikkei fell 2.4% to 8,501 after bad earnings forecasts from Toyota (TM).
The Hang Seng was down .3% to 14,184.
The Shanghai Composite fell 1.2% to 1,874.
In Europe, at the open, the FTSE was off .1% to 4,251. The CAC 40 was off .4% to 3,115.
