I think Salesforce.com became something you went with without perhaps questioning whether it offered the right solution -- a consequence of their superb marketing. I am expecting churn to be high now economic conditions toughen and all companies start to question their expenditure. Those who aren't seeing a return from Salesforce.com will probably can it and go for one of the Open Source or free SaaS vendors instead.

By the way, although SaaS is typically pay as you go monthly, Salesforce.com has pushing hard for two or more year commitments with payment up front. As the terms come to and end the questions will come as to whether renewal makes sense.
