After all of Clinton's "massive" cuts to the military, the budget when he took office was only $23B less than when he left. If there were massive cuts, it was because of a failure to effectively prioritize between what the military needed and what defense contractors wanted. It wasn't due to lack of funding.

By comparison, the last time I looked W had doubled it by $600B which did not include Iraq/Afghanistan costs and we still don't pay soldiers worth a damn. Again, not due to lack of funding.

The problem, in reality, is this stupid enactment of "supply side" economics that encourages bubbles to form. A factory running at 60% will not create more capacity just because it is given money. A factory that has orders that require it to expand its capacity will be able to get a loan. If the banks won't and the capital markets won't then we can get a direct loan from the government. There's no need to bail out the banks. The check system is outdated anyway.

I dont like Bush either but to sit there and blame him for all our problems is stupid. Clinton had just as much to do with it as anyone else. Bush also had to weather the two biggest disaters in our country's history, 911 attacks and Hurricane Katrina. Which brings to mind, wonder why we got attacked? Could it be because Clinton played P**** for 8 years and didnt wanna hurt anybody's feelings…maybe we should all think like liberal Dem's and give everybody welfare, food stamps, free health care, let the Middle East bomb the piss out of us, let our military be small just so we can cut down on the deficit.
