It is remarkable to me that the folks who gave us 8 years of absolutely horrible economic policy, resulting in a doubling of the national debt by $5 Trillion dollars, now see fit to criticize this effort to stimulate the economy.

What is the alternative. Do nothing and watch our economy crash and burn. Think about it. Building roads, bridges, schools, power plants, promoting wind turbine technology and the rest will immediately put people to work. There are thousands of shovel ready, (all the enviromental and other necessities have been accomplished) projects that can start virtually immediately. That means construction workers, machinery equipment operators, carpenters, re-bar (steel) mill workers, paint workers, aggregate workers, construciton equipment builders, equipment repair technicians and all the rest can be hired and begin working. They in turn will spend their earnings to buy not only the necessities but also other goods and services which in turn will drive up demand across the board.

I simply am amazed that people like Doug would I guess sit around and cry all day instead of getting off their ass and getting the nation back to work.

Thank you, some one finally printed it while many of us think it! I quote Douglas A. McIntyre "There is a temptation to say that the stimulus package is simply a cruel trick, meant to give people some hope. " Welcome aboard Douglas :) Reality isn't gloomy or pessimistic , there is no recovery for governments (national or local) companies or private citizens if you ignore the truth in mathematics!
