Markets in Asia were mixed.

The Nikkei rose .9% to 9,841.

The Hang Seng was up .5% to 18,251.

The Shanghai Composite rose 1.2% to 2,810.

At the the open in Europe, the FTSE fell .4% to 4,310 as Rio Tinto (RTP) posted losses. The Dax fell .5% to 4,869. The CAC 40 dropped .5% to 3,197.
