SAP Owes Oracle (ORCL) $1.3 Billion: Suit Could Last Years

A  federal jury ruled in favor of Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) in a copyright infringement case against SAP, according to a number of media reports. The sum of the award was $1.3 billion.

Oracle had asked for $1.7 billion.

The former TomorrowNow division of SAP was charged with stealing software and documentation which contained material which covered 120 copyrights..

The suit dates back to 2007, and the award could continue to be appealed which would mean the action could go on for several more years.
