The new Consumer Report survey of fast food content and the service quality at fast food restaurants received a great deal of press coverage. Much of it centered on the low nutritional value of McDonald’s (NYSE: MCD) menu. The study did not state the obvious. Fat is fat.
Nearly every food chain on the list serves products that are nowhere close to the government’s recommended healthy diet. The idea that differentiating among a number of very bad choices is barely worth the public’s attention.
Fat people flock to these establishments because they cannot control their eating habits, they like the convenience or they like the price. This is despite the fact that it is well known that being overweight makes it more likely to develop heart disease or Type 2 diabetes.
