Edison International, Goldcorp Wade into Tuesday's 52-Week Low Club

December 12, 2017: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 77 equities making new 52-week lows in Tuesday’s session. On the NYSE decliners led advancers by about 8 to 7 and on the Nasdaq, advancers led decliners by slightly more than 8 to 7.

Edison International (NYSE: EIX) posted a new 52-week low of $67.28 Tuesday, down 7.8% after closing at $72.98 on Monday. The 52-week high is $83.38. Volume was about 8.2 million, approaching four times the daily average of around 2.2 million shares. The company’s southern California electricity system has been hard hit by the recent wildfires.

Goldcorp Inc. (NYSE: GG) dropped about 1.7% Tuesday to post a new 52-week low of $11.64 after closing at $11.84 on Monday. The 52-week high is $17.87. Volume was around 7 million, more than 10% above the daily average of around 6.4 million. The gold mining company had no specific news.

GNC Holdings Inc. (NYSE: GNC) dropped nearly 10% Tuesday to post a new 52-week low of $4.63 after closing at $5.14 on Monday. The 52-week high is $13.51. Volume was around 3.8 million, about 10% above the daily average of around 2.9 million. The health products company is struggling with $1.4 billion in debt and has been unable to refinance the debt leading to fears regarding its future.

Asanko Gold Inc. (NYSEAMERICAN: AKG) dropped nearly 8% Tuesday to post a new 52-week low of $0.47 after closing at $0.52 on Monday. The stock’s 52-week high is $3.90. Volume of around 2 million was more than double the daily average. The junior gold miner had no specific news, but falling gold prices hit the little guys hardest.
