Of the 10 vehicles with the best resale value, five are pickup trucks, three are sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and just two are passenger cars. That should be no big surprise because trucks continue to be built to take more punishment and last longer than other vehicles.
That endurance and reliability translates into higher resale values. The experts at Kelley Blue Book (KBB) recently named their 2016 top 10 list of vehicles with the highest resale value.
The Toyota Motor Corp. (NYSE: TM) Tacoma midsize pickup has the highest values of any vehicle in the KBB rankings, with a resale value of 72.9% after 36 months and 61.7% after 60 months. The truck has been completely redesigned for 2016.
Toyota’s 4Runner is the second-ranked vehicle on the list, with a resale value of 66.7% of the original purchase price after 36 months and 60.3% after 60 months.
