The gradual improvement in the job picture and the economy may bode well for the sector. While restaurant stocks are currently expensive on most measures, including forward price-to-earnings ratios and relative multiples, many companies are still underlevered, perhaps providing ongoing cash flow support via higher dividends and buybacks.

In a new report, Deutsche Bank A.G (NYSE: DB) points out that despite generally sluggish same-store sales and traffic, especially in the first quarter, as well as limited unit expansion potential for many brands, they believe that the cash flow generation of these businesses has been a key support for stock prices, helping offset low organic growth for many companies. Their research screened for stocks that possess the best combination of stable, cash-rich businesses and relatively low leverage.

Here are their top restaurant stocks to buy now.

Panera Bread Co. (NASDAQ: PNRA) is the top stock to buy at Deutsche Bank. More than a bakery, the popular eatery has become a go-to destination for lunch and dinner, which is raising the average check amount. Deutsche Bank has a $200 price target, which was just raised from $190. The Thomson/First Call estimate is also $200.

McDonald’s Corp. (NYSE: MCD) is a mega-cap blue chip on the list. The iconic fast-food restaurant recently has made menu changes to appeal to more health conscience customers. Deutsche Bank has a $110 price target, while the consensus is $108. Investors are also paid a tasty 3.10% dividend.

Buffalo Wild Wings Inc. (NASDAQ: BWLD) sure seems packed every Saturday and Sunday during the football season. Using the strip-mall location theme has worked big and help to drive earnings. Deutsche Bank has placed a $106 target on the stock. The consensus estimate is $100.

Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group Inc. (NASDAQ: DFRG) is a stock to buy for investors that want to own a high-dollar steakhouse. The company operates approximately 34 restaurants, including 10 Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House restaurants, 19 Sullivan’s Steakhouse restaurants, and five Del Frisco’s Grille restaurants in 19 states. Deutsche Bank’s $20 price target is in line with the consensus estimate.

Starbucks Corp. (NASDAQ: SBUX) rounds out the top five restaurant stock to buy. Starbucks recently announced plans to deliver the Keurig system and Starbucks-branded K-Cups to its strongest and fastest growing international markets such as China, Mexico and India, leveraging Starbucks’ popularity in those markets. Deutsche Bank has a $66 price target for the industry giant, which is the same as the consensus target. Investors receive a 1.30% dividend.

We have cautioned investors about going “all-in” on stocks at this level of the markets. It may make sense when investing in any of the Deutsche Bank restaurant stocks to scale in money. Another strategy would be to buy a half position now, and wait for a pullback to add the rest.

Wireless continued to be a strong performing sector in the first quarter. While competition continues to squeeze margins, the need for speed and data is becoming the most important part of the earnings equation. Consumers also are starting to look at a replacement for their current smartphones. What they end up buying may be influenced by wireless and data plans as much as by the phones themselves.

Oppenheimer analysts just released an in-depth look at the first-quarter earnings for the communication, wireless and cloud stocks. Results were solid for the high-end wireless sector and okay for consumer wireline. Twelve of the companies Oppenheimer covers met or exceeded estimates, and five reported an earnings miss, with the more enterprise-focused companies guiding to weaker results. The analysts continue to believe that wireless data and cloud services are in the early stages of growth and that this, combined with online gaming, mobile video and social networking, will drive strong interest for many of the stocks in their coverage universe.

Here are the Oppenheimer stocks to buy, including a top three list.

Akamai Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM) is one of three top stocks to buy. Akamai has followed a steady pattern of reporting two consecutive strong quarters followed by one weaker quarter. Assuming this trend continues, the second quarter this year will be another strong quarter for the company. The Thomson/First Call price target for the stock is $47.

American Tower Corp. (NYSE: AMT) is also in the top three. The Oppenheimer analysts think that American Tower is the favorite to acquire AT&T Inc.’s (NYSE: T) remaining tower portfolio, which would increase the company’s tower count by 50%. The consensus price objective for this top name is $91.50.

Comcast Corp. (NASDAQ: CMCSA) rounds out the top three stocks to buy at Oppenheimer. Cable trends look solid for the remainder of the year, as the company was able to pass through a series of rate adjustments with only minor pushback. New acquisition NBCUniversal, had a much better first quarter than expected. The consensus target for the stock is $48. Investors are paid a 1.80% dividend.

Crown Castle International Corp. (NYSE: CCI) is another tower name to make the Oppenheimer stocks to buy list. Over the past four quarters, year-over-year sales growth has been 17%, 21%, 30% and 34%, respectively. As the weather warms up, it is likely the company will have additional equipment installations and repair work as network capital spending heats up. The consensus price objective for the stock is $86.

AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) is one of two carriers to buy. The company expects much better results in its wireless business in the second quarter after a weak start to the year. The consensus for this blue chip name is $38. Investors are paid an outstanding 4.90% dividend.

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ) also grabs a spot on the stocks to buy list. Verizon Wireless will pay out a total $7 billion distribution in June to Verizon and Vodafone Group PLC (NASDAQ: VOD) commensurate with their respective 55% and 45% stakes in the company. That puts Verizon’s share at $3.85 billion, and Vodafone will get $3.15 billion. The consensus price target for Verizon Communications is $54. Shareholders receive a 3.90% dividend.

RigNet Inc. (NASDAQ: RNET) is a small cap name that offers an interesting twist. The company provides network infrastructure services for the remote communications needs of the oil and gas industry. The consensus price objective for the stock is $27.50.

Interxion Holdings N.V. (NYSE: INXN) could be a play on growth in Europe. The company provides carrier-neutral colocation data center services in Europe. The consensus for the stock is at $21.41, way below the current trading level.

magicJack Vocal Tec Ltd. (NASDAQ: CALL) wraps up the list of stocks to buy at Oppenheimer. With television commercials that run constantly, the company provides consumers inexpensive voice over Internet protocol (VOIP) phone service. The consensus estimate for the stock is at $26. A move to the target would represent an almost 40% gain.

Even with the impressive stock market rally, investors can feel comfortable at least scale buying some of these top names. With an ever increasing consumer base around the world, growth prospects for these stocks seem very achievable.

One place they have spent money is the department stores around the country. The department store group as a whole is up 15% year to date, excluding troubled J.C. Penney Co. Inc. (NYSE: JCP). The retail analysts at UBS A.G (NYSE: UBS) are ready to sell the department stores and look for stocks to buy in the specialty retail and apparel manufacturing space.

In a new report, the team at UBS note that with unfavorable weather and high inventories in the first quarter of this year, they see little upside ahead for department store guidance. Without improving fundamentals, they also see little reason for price-to-earnings ratios to expand further relative to the market to justify a more positive stock outlook. While the fundamentals may not look that exciting for the department stores, the prospects for specialty retail and specialty retail products remains solid.

Here are the specialty retail stores and products stocks to buy at UBS.

Nike Inc. (NYSE: NKE) still dominates specialty athletic apparel and footwear sales. With global market share that could grow to 6.5%, sales have never been stronger. The UBS price target for the stock is $68. The Thomson/First Call estimate is $64. Investors receive a 1.30% dividend.

Foot Locker Inc. (NYSE: FL) is a retailer to buy at UBS. The company continued its expansion by buying German retailer Runners Point last week. The UBS target for the stock is $39, and the consensus is $40. Investors are paid a 2.20% dividend.

L Brands Inc. (NYSE: LTD) showed solid 2% comparable-store sales growth on Monday. The UBS target for the stock is $53. The consensus price target for the stock is also $53. Investors receive a 2.30% dividend.

Ralph Lauren Corp. (NYSE: RL) stock has been on fire. The company has continued to add popular merchandise to its vast portfolio of apparel and accessories. UBS has a target for the stock of $195. The consensus estimate is the same at $195. Investors receive a small 0.90% dividend.

TJX Companies Inc. (NYSE: TJX) is one of two specialty discount retailers that makes the list of stock to buy. The UBS target price is $53, but the consensus is lower at $50. Shareholders are paid a 1.10% dividend.

Ross Stores Inc. (NASDAQ: ROST) is another discount specialty retailer to buy. Ross Stores improved earnings per share by 25.9% in the most recent quarter, compared to the same quarter a year ago. UBS has a $75 target. The consensus is much lower at $68. Investors receive a 1.00% dividend.

V.F. Corp. (NYSE: VFC) is an apparel manufacturer with an impressive list of well-known names. In addition to the popular Lee Jeans brand, the company also designs and sells North Face, Timberland, Vans, Kipling, Napapijri, Reef, Eastpak, JanSport, SmartWool, Lucy and Eagle Creek brands, among others. The UBS target for this apparel giant is $191. The consensus is at $188. Investors are paid a 1.90% dividend.

ANN Inc. (NYSE: ANN) is a very popular destination for women shoppers. With a new Kate Hudson collection now available, sales have been strong. UBS has a $40 target for the stock. The consensus is lower at $35.

Express Inc. (NYSE: EXPR) wraps up the names to buy at UBS. Targeting men and women between 20 and 30, the company’s prudent customer-focused approach to merchandising sets it apart from its competitors. UBS has a $21 target, the same as the consensus estimate.

Clearly the economy will determine whether the retail sector continues to be a good buy for investors. If expected growth in the second half of the year does indeed materialize, then owning some of the UBS stocks to buy in the sector should prove to be a solid choice.

Often a binary event, such as a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval or a life-saving capital raise is the difference between not only success or failure, but survival. Combing through reams of complicated data to find nuggets that point at possible outcomes is what the quality biotech analysts do.

The biotech analysts at PropThink always try to handicap the best and worst scenarios on the stocks they cover. PropThink is an intelligence service that delivers long and short trading ideas to investors in the health care and life sciences industries. Their focus is on identifying and analyzing technically complicated companies and equities that are grossly overvalued or undervalued.

Here are some current stocks the PropThink analysts are covering. Investors should remember that these names can be highly speculative and are not suitable for conservative portfolios.

AVEO Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: AVEO) may be a micro-cap stock to buy. An advisory panel vote went against the company recently, but it may be a bottom-fishing candidate. Aveo is a developmental stage biotech company, with its leading product candidate designed to treat renal cancer. Seth Klarman’s Baupost Group hedge fund owned 4.9 million shares at the beginning of this year. The Thomson/First Call price target is $2.90.

Onyx Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: ONXX) is a company with huge momentum. For its most recent quarter, Onyx delivered a doubling in revenue from the previous year to $145.5 million, with practically all the gains coming from its multiple myeloma drug Kyprolis. The consensus price target for the stock is $106.

Celgene Corp. (NASDAQ: CELG) hit a new 52-week high this week. The company recently reported data from its ongoing phase III trial of apremilast this month, showing the drug successfully reduced psoriatic arthritis symptoms by at least 20% versus placebo. The consensus target is at $140.

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: REGN) is another name that has been on a huge roll. Regeneron is an integrated biopharmaceutical company that focuses on development of new candidates for serious ailments primarily in areas like ophthalmology, inflammation, cancer and hypercholesterolemia. The consensus for the stock is at $288.50.

MAKO Surgical Corp. (NASDAQ: MAKO) is an intriguing stock to the PropThink team, although not yet listed as a stock to buy. MAKO Surgical is a medical device company that markets its advanced robotic arm solution, joint-specific applications for the knee and hip, and orthopedic implants for orthopedic procedures in the United States and internationally. The consensus price target is $12.

ViroPharma Inc. (NASDAQ: VPHM) is expected to deliver growth despite a poor quarter. ViroPharma’s commercial and pipeline progress is on track, with new timelines announced for several clinical programs. With its lead drug Cinryze continuing to show growth and what appears to be growing market share, the company is moving beyond the loss of its Vancocin franchise. The consensus price target for the stock is $33.

Cubist Pharmaceutical Inc. (NASDAQ: CBST) is the ultimate binary event play. With a critical court decision pending, the stock could have tremendous movement, depending on the outcome. Cubists’ primary revenue drug Cubicin (daptomycin), which is an injectable antibiotic with nearly $1 billion in sales, is being challenged by a generic drug manufacturer. Investors need to be very careful here. The consensus price target for the stock is $52.50.

With a penchant for large-cap names with huge momentum and small-cap names on the verge of a big success, PropThink offers a good balance of biotech information and data. Again, investors should remember that some of the highly speculative stocks may be totally unsuitable for conservative portfolios. With that caveat in place, some of the names could also lead to spectacular gains.

(NASDAQ: GRPN). Even after a 150% recovery from the lows in the battered daily deals stock, Stern Agee sees shares of Groupon heading much higher. Sterne Agee’s analyst Arvind Bhatia reiterated a Buy rating and a $9 share price target for the daily deals website.

Wall Street remains skeptical. As proof the consensus share price target from Wall Street is $6.13 versus $7.17 today. The management team is looking to grow bookings to $10 billion and then much higher. Stern Agee believes that management’s vision of the opportunity is much larger than anyone believes currently. The firm sees EBITDA of $259.5 million in 2012 growing to $295.9 million in 2013 and then all the way up to $439.3 million in 2014.

Stern Agee’s $9 price target for one-year out is based upon 8-times the 2015 EBITDA estimate. Be advised that $9 is the street-high price target from all analysts. After meeting with management earlier in the week, Arvind Bhatia said,

“We believe the addressable opportunity at Groupon is larger than most realize and the billings growth rate in the coming years could be stronger than most expect. We think international is on the right track and can be fixed with focused execution. Competition appears to be less severe than six months to a year ago. Groupon is in a good position to benefit from two positive secular trends in eCommerce— local and mobile.”

Groupon shares are up 4% at $7.17 against a 52-week trading range of $2.60 to $13.20. Its market cap is currently just over $4.7 billion,

The higher the stock market goes, the more difficult it becomes for investors to put money to work. When breaking down stocks to buy after such a big move up, there are two good indicators to look at: 1) companies that face easy second half of 2013 comparisons and 2) companies with earnings that are biased or loaded towards the second half of this year.

The analysts at Jefferies scoured their coverage universe for industrial stocks that fit those two categories. They continue to expect several specific end-markets to lead an acceleration in industrial activity in the second half of the year. After a generally lackluster first quarter, the degree of the improvement is difficult to project. So using several important industrial variables, they found that even with no improvement in the industrial economy, second half of the year sales should benefit from easier comparisons.

They believe machinery and auto/transports are relatively more attractive from a valuation perspective. The industrial stock picks of the month that fall in those two categories are:

Ingersoll-Rand PLC (NYSE: IR) also has been on the radar screen of CNBC’s Jim Cramer this week. The company engages in the design, manufacture, sale and service of a diverse portfolio of industrial and commercial products in the United States and internationally. The Thomson/First Call price objective for the stock is $58. Investors receive a 1.50% dividend.

PACCAR Inc. (NASDAQ: PCAR) hit a 52-week high less than two weeks ago. The company designs, manufactures and distributes light, medium and heavy-duty trucks and related aftermarket parts worldwide. The consensus price target for the stock is $50, which is below the current trading level. Shareholders are paid a 1.50% dividend.

AGCO Corp. (NYSE: AGCO) is another name the recently bounced down from a 52-week high. Valuations remain attractive for this agriculture equipment company even after a 30% return since May 2012. The consensus price target is $59. Investors receive a small 0.7% dividend.

Norfolk Southern Corp. (NYSE: NSC) is a major railroad that makes the Jefferies list of stocks to buy. Transporting raw materials around the country, the company operates approximately 20,000 miles of route in 22 states and the District of Columbia. Consensus price estimates for the stock are at $85. Shareholders are paid a 2.50% dividend.

Dana Holding Corp. (NYSE: DAN) recently received two grants totaling $3 million to develop technology to improve thermal management systems for battery systems in electric, plug-in hybrid-electric and hybrid-electric vehicles. The consensus for the stock is $19.50. Investors receive a 1.10% dividend.

Ryder System Inc. (NYSE: R) is the last stock of the month to buy at Jefferies. Ryder System is more than just a truck rental company these days. It also provides innovative outsourced transportation, logistics and supply chain solutions globally. The consensus price target is $69. Investors receive a 2.00% dividend.

Investors interested in the Jefferies stocks need to remember the main thesis. These are stocks expected to benefit more than others in the second half of 2013. So while they may be the stock picks of the month, there may not be any rush to buy them today.

The NASDAQ Biotechnology Index (NBI) is up 90%, and the AMEX Biotechnology index (BTK) is up 50%, versus the 28% gain for the S&P 500. Despite the outperformance, the analysts at Deutsche Bank A.G. (NYSE: DB) believe there are still gains to be had. They conducted a detailed relative valuation and fundamental analysis. From this analysis, they think biotech is not a bubble and still believe the sector is a Buy.

They point to five specific reasons for this conclusion:

Recent outperformance in past two years was recovery from prior year weakness.

Biotech has been outperforming S&P only since the first quarter of this year.

Despite price-to-earnings expansion, multiples are well below precrisis levels.

Current multiples look significantly below the last known bubble.

Current multiples also are well below the average price-to-earnings in the period from 2005 to 2008.

Even though biotech currently trades at a 50% premium to the S&P 500, the Deutsche Bank team has a list of solid stocks to buy now.

Amgen Inc. (NASDAQ: AMGN) is a top stock to buy at Deutsche Bank. With a gigantic pipeline and solid earnings growth, this biotech leader is poised to succeed for years to come. Deutsche Bank has a $115 price target. The Thomson/First Call estimate is also at $115. Investors receive a 1.80% dividend.

Celgene Corp. (NASDAQ: CELG) hit a new 52-week high yesterday. The company recently reported data from its ongoing phase III trial of apremilast this month, showing the drug successfully reduced psoriatic arthritis symptoms by at least 20% versus a placebo. Deutsche Bank has a $143 price target. The consensus target is at $140.

Biogen Idec Inc. (NASDAQ: BIIB) is another massive mega-cap name that makes the list of stocks to buy. Biogen Idec discovers, develops, manufactures and markets therapies for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, hemophilia and autoimmune disorders in the United States and internationally. The Deutsche Bank target for the stock is $240 and the consensus estimate is $226.

Gilead Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ: GILD) has been recording good growth numbers. The market is apparently anticipating further increases in earnings in the future, given the higher trailing price-to-earnings ratio. The Deutsche Bank price objective is $69 and the consensus is lower at $63.

Deutsche Bank has a $310 target, while the consensus is at $288.50.

Onyx Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: ONXX) is another company with huge momentum. For its most recent quarter, Onyx delivered a doubling in revenue to $145.5 million from $72 million in the previous year, with practically all the gains coming from their multiple myeloma drug Kyprolis. The Deutsche Bank target price for the stock is $105. The consensus is $106.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTX) is a leader in the fight against hepatitis C (HCV) infection. The company also has a groundbreaking drug for the treatment of cystic fibrosis. Deutsche Bank has a $100 price target for the stock. The consensus is at $93.

Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: ALXN) has also been on fire lately. Soliris, its lone drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration, saw sales rise by 38% to $338.9 million in its most recent quarter, as non-GAAP net income jumped 49%. The Deutsche Bank target is $117 and the consensus is actually higher at $120.50.

Investors that buy any of these names are immediately becoming momentum players, looking to buy high and sell higher. Each of the Deutsche Bank stocks to buy either has a tremendous portfolio and pipeline or a blockbuster drug that dominates its niche. These stocks may represent the best bets that the biotech sector has to offer.

The sovereign credit ratings of Greece and other PIIGS from the major ratings agencies have generally gone in one direction in recent years. Downward and onward. This is almost hard to believe on the surface, but Fitch Ratings has actually just upgraded Greece’s credit ratings. Fitch is raising Greece to “B-” from “CCC” and the Short-term foreign currency IDR has also been raised to “B” from “C” and while the Country Ceiling was raised to “B” from “B-” in the call. The Outlook on the Long-term IDRs is Stable.

Many factors were cited. The degree of default risk for private creditors has subsided above the “CCC” rating. The Economic Adjustment Programme is on track while there is a semblance of political and social stability. Greece’s primary fiscal adjustment of over 9% of GDP in 2009 to 2012 was called the most ambitious instance of fiscal consolidation among advanced economies in recent times. Fitch also maintains that structural reforms are progressing. It even went as far as to say that extensive debt restructuring has put funding on a more secure footing.

Greece’s sovereign ratings are underpinned by its still high income per capita. Today’s rating report said, “The Greek economy is rebalancing: clear progress has been made towards eliminating twin fiscal and current account deficits and ‘internal devaluation’ has at last begun to take hold. The price has been high in terms of lost output and rising unemployment and the capacity for recovery is still in doubt. Nonetheless, sovereign debt relief and an easing of fiscal targets have lifted Central Bank measures of economic sentiment to a three-year high and the risk of eurozone exit has receded.”

We are seeing a small move as a result of the upgrade.
