Markets in Europe were down sharply at 6.10 AM New York time.

The FTSE fell .9% to 6,338. Barclays (BCS) was down 3% to 691. BP (BP) was down 2.2% to 545.5. BT (BT) was off 1.9% to 312.25.

The DAXX was off 1.2% to 7,512. Bayer (BAY) was down 2.5% to 52.88. DB (DB) was down 2.4% to 100.22. DT (DT) was up 1.2% to 13.23. SAP (SAP) was up 1.3% to 40.54.

The CAC 40 fell 1.6% to 5,658. Alcatel-Lucent rose 1.9% to 8.61. AXA (AXA) fell 3.3% to 29.09. France Telecom (FTE) fell 1.1% to 20.66.
