Apple will offer its iPhone through China Telecom, one of the largestĀ carriers in the People’s Republic. It already has a relationship with China Unicom, but not one with the largest carrier–China Mobile.
Apple has lost smartphone share in China in the last two quarters of 2011.. That makes a relationship with all three carriers essential. But, Apple has a problem. Its hardware does not work with the signal that China Mobile uses. The big company is changes its signal configuration, but that could take months that Apple does not have as it falls behind in the world’s largest wireless market
