VW sold 8.27 million cars and light trucks last year. Revenue rose 26% to 159 billion euros. Earnings before interest and taxes were up 58% to 11.3 billion euros
The top unit sales means that VW continues to be in a race for the No.1 car company spot in the world. It vies with GM and Toyota for that title. VW’s strengths are in China, and, to some extent in Europe. It does well in the EU, but that market in falling apart. VW has almost no presence in the US, which may cost it a great deal of sales over time
