The people were primarily in the GTS Delivery Application Hosting and AMS Commercial Delivery, according to the source. The same organization claims the IBM cut 98,000 US workers in 2011, 101,000 in 2010, and 105,000 in 2009.
Some analysts believe that the US layoffs are part of a effort by IBM to move jobs into markets like India in which the firm can get skills comparable to those of its American workers
