Today's Market Winners

Stocks Monday are down slightly, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.59%, the Nasdaq down 0.05% and the S&P 500 down 0.39%. But while there were several big stock winners, there weren’t big stock losers. When 24/7 Wall St. reports winners and losers, it, with some exceptions, looks for companies with trading volume solidly in the millions and gains and loses in the double digit percents. At midday, there were no companies that met this criteria.

Here are Monday’s market winners:

Shares of Brighpoint (NASDAQ: CELL) are up 62.85% to $8.81 based on trading volume of 10.4 million shares. Technology distributor Ingram Micro (NYSE: IM) plans to by the mobile phone distributor for $840 million, the companies jointly announced Monday. Shares are still well off the 52-week high of $12.05.

Shares of Lincare Holdings (NASDAQ: LNCR) are up 21.46% to $41.32 based on trading volume of 49.1 million shares. Linde agreed to buy the health services holding company for $3.8 billion, or $41.50 a share. Before Monday, the 52-week high of Lincare stock was $34.20.

Shares of MEMC Electronic Materials (NYSE: WFR) are up 16.36% to $2.52 on trading volume of 6.8 million shares. The company on Friday announced the sale of a solar power plant in Las Vegas to Southern Co. (NYSE: SO) and to Turner Renewable Energy, founded by Ted Turner. Despite this, the company shares are still well off the 52-week high of $8.56.
