Today's Market Winners and Losers

The stock market is up Friday, continuing the rally that began yesterday when Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke announced another round of bond purchases. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 0.53%, the Nasdaq is up 1% and the S&P 500 is up 0.67%. Today’s winner rose on announcement of a major hedge fund buying more shares, while today’s loser is offering more common stock.

Biggest Winner

Shares of BioFuels Energy Corp. (NASDAQ: BIOF) are up 41.50% to $9.07 on trading volume of 1.4 million shares. David Einhorn’s Greenlight Capital announced it had upped its stake in the company to 36.2% by purchasing more than 69,000 shares within the last 60 days. The 52-week high is $24.80.

Biggest Loser

Shares of Neuralstem, Inc. (NYSEMKT: CUR) are down 13.05% to $1.20 on trading volume of 6.6 million shares. The company is offering an additional 7 million shares priced at $1.00 per share. The 52-week low is 42 cents.
