September 9, 2015: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 64 equities making new 52-week lows today.

Tetraphase Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: TTPH) dropped nearly 80% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low at $9.00 after closing at $44.78 on Tuesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $52.90. Share volume was nearly 50 times the daily average of around 480,000. The biotech firm reported a failed trial today and the reaction from shareholders was both ugly and predictable.

GoPro Inc. (NASDAQ: GPRO) dropped about 11% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $33.34 against a 52-week high of 98.47. The stock closed at $37.50 on Tuesday night. Volume is nearly 3 times the daily average of around 7.6 million shares traded. After a lowered rating yesterday, the introduction of the company’s app for the Apple Watch did not return the camera-maker to investors’ good graces.

United States Steel Corp. (NYSE: X) posted a new 52-week low on Wednesday. Shares dropped about 5.6% to a low of $14.12 from Tuesday’s closing price of $14.95. The stock’s 52-week high is $46.55. Volume totaled about 50% above the daily average of around 10 million. The company had no specific news today.

Barnes & Noble Inc. (NYSE: BKS) dropped nearly 30% on Wednesday to set a new 52-week low of $11.45 after closing at $4.76 on Tuesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $17.97. Share volume totaled around 8 million shares, more than 5 times the daily average of around 1.5 million. The company reported a big loss this morning.
