The 52-Week Low Club for Thursday

March 31, 2016: Here are four stocks trading with relatively heavy volume among 13 equities making new 52-week lows in Thursday’s session. Volume was light again today although 138 NYSE stocks posted new 52-week highs compared with just 8 new lows.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NYSE: VRX) posted a new 52-week low on Thursday. Shares traded at a low of $25.75, down about 4.7%, after closing at $27.03 on Wednesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $263.81. Volume totaled more than double the daily average of around 17 million shares. The company’s directors and its CEO were notified by Canadian authorities this morning that they may not trade their stock in the company on the Toronto exchange.

Endo Pharmaceutical plc (NASDAQ: ENDP) dropped almost 9% on Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $25.99 against a 52-week high of $96.58. The stock closed at $28.45 on Wednesday night. Volume totaled about 13.7 million shares compared with the stock’s daily average volume of around 5.6 million. The Federal Trade Commission has filed a complaint against the company alleging that Endo paid generic drug makers to delay releases of certain branded drugs in order to protect the company’s branded versions.

Fibria Celulose SA (NYSE: FBR) dropped about 3.9% on Thursday to post a new 52-week low at $8.35 after closing at $8.69 on Wednesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $14.94. Share volume of about 2.4 million was nearly double the daily average of around 1.4 million shares traded. The Brazilian paper pulp maker had no specific news Thursday .

The E.W. Scripps Co. (NYSE: SSP) fell by about 2.2% on Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $15.55 against a high of $25.90. The stock closed at $15.90 on Wednesday night. Volume rose to around 370,000 shares, roughly equal to the daily average. The media company also had no specific news on Thursday.
