On the NYSE, advancers led decliners by just better than an even margin and on the Nasdaq advancers led decliners by just 4 stocks.
Staples Inc. (NASDAQ: SPLS) dropped 1.4% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $7.54 against a 52-week high of $13.50. Volume of about 5 million was about 15% below the daily average of around 6.2 million. The stock closed at $7.65 on Thursday night.
