NetScout, Southern Company Dive into Wednesday's 52-Week Low Club

January 10, 2018: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 86 equities making new 52-week lows in Wednesday’s session. On the NYSE decliners led advancers by more than 3 to 2 and on the Nasdaq, decliners led advancers by about 8 to 7.

NetScout Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: NTCT) dropped more than 14% Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $26.00 after closing at $30.40 on Tuesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $38.48. Volume was around 6.1 million, about 6 times the daily average of around 970,000. The company announced disappointing preliminary results this morning.

Vereit Inc. (NYSE: VER) fell more than 2% to post a new 52-week low of $7.40 Wednesday after closing at $7.56 on Tuesday. The 52-week high is $9.12. Volume of about 6 million was about a third lower than the daily average of around 9.6 million. The company real estate management firm had no specific news.

The Southern Co. (NYSE: SO) traded down about 2.9% Wednesday and posted a new 52-week low of $45.81 after closing Tuesday at $47.20. The 52-week high is $53.51. Volume was about 5.5 million, about 15% above the daily average of around 4.8 million shares. The company had no specific news Wednesday.

Klondex Mines Ltd. (NYSEAMERICAN: KLDX) dropped nearly 30% Wednesday to post a 52-week low of $1.67 after closing at $2.38 on Tuesday. The 52-week high is $5.91. Volume was around 3.5 million, more than double the daily average. The company said Wednesday that it is cutting back underground mining operations at its Manitoba mine and made some management changes as well.
