Macy's Adds More Discounts to Move Winter Clothes, Other Items

When Macy’s Inc. (NYSE: M) announced its November/December same-store sales total last week, the news was not good, but the company was able to forestall a disaster in the share price by announcing at the same time 40 store closings and other cost-saving measures. Shares rose nearly 3% in after-hours trading.

Now, though, the company has to unload the inventory it couldn’t sell over the holidays, and some of the deals are exceptional. A women’s London Fog double-breasted peacoat with a plaid scarf is selling for $94.99, a 58% discount to the original price of $225. Online shoppers get an extra 10% off the discount price. Free shipping is available on orders of $99 or more.

Another women’s coat, a Nautica faux-fur-trim hooded wool peacoat that regularly sells for $225 is on sale for $55.99, a savings of 75% before the extra 10% discount is applied at checkout.

For men, a Ralph Lauren solid peacoat is advertised at its regular price of $350, but a 60% discount taken at checkout time lowers the price to just $140. Only one size left though, 40R, and the discount ends January 18.

A London Fog men’s wool-blend overcoat that usually costs $350 is also on sale for 60% off until January 18. There are more sizes available as well.

And for the kitchen, a Cuisinart MFP-108DC Elite seven-cup food processor that normally sells for $200 is on sale for $50. No extra savings here and shipping is not free. Still, that’s a rock-bottom price for the appliance.
