Just two weeks ahead of Super Bowl 50, the promotions for new big-screen TVs for watching the big game are hitting the media. Sunday’s entrant is Best Buy Co. Inc. (NYSE: BBY) and to say that the company needs to sell a ton of TVs as quickly as it can is not an overstatement.
The consumer electronics retailer said earlier in January that domestic sales revenues fell 0.8% in the holiday shopping season, with same-store sales down 1.4%. The company also noted that it anticipates a revenue decline of 4%, a decline in operating income, and an 1 to 3 cent decline in year-over-year adjusted diluted earnings per share. Best Buy has to do something, so big-screen TVs it is.
An LG 55-inch 4K Ultra HD 2160p smart TV (55UF6450) is selling for $699.99, a savings of $500 from the regular price of $1,199.99. Delivery is free and the company’s Geek Squad setup and mounting services are also free. Earlier this past week Walmart advertised the same TV for $698 which the company said was discount of 20% from the usual price of $899.99. Delivery or store pick-up is free, but you’re own your to set up and mount.
An LG 65-inch 4K Ultra HD 2160p smart TV (65UF6450) is on sale for $999.99, a savings of $700 from the list price of $1,699.99. This TV comes with the same delivery and setup freebies as the 55-inch LG TV.
An LG 42-inch LED 1080p HDTV (42LF5600) sells for $279.99, a savings of $120 from the normal price of $399.99. Delivery is free, but you’re on your own when it comes to mounting and setup.
