(NYSE: LLY), Genentech, Helsinn, Eisai, and Montefiore/Einstein.

24/7 Wall St. has compiled a log of companies which have already signaled in press releases that they will be presenting data or that data will be presented on their behalf at the 2012 ASCO Annual Meeting. We have previewed more than 25 companies so far and that is not even including Big Pharma names. As of May 18, the total abstracts submitted were 5,264 and of those there have been 2,744 which have been accepted for presentation at ASCO. Of those accepted for presentation, some 1,859 are going to be ‘ePublication only’ for viewers. The breakdown for the Abstracts shows that the oral presentation is currently 257 presentations and 2,487 are listed as poster presentation only.

The most presentations accepted (203) so far are focused on Genitourinary Cancer, which covers urinary tract and male genital tract as follows: Prostate cancer; Bladder cancer; Kidney cancer; Testicular cancer; Penile cancer; Nonmalignant tumors of the urinary tract and male reproductive system; and Von Hippel Lindau disease. As of today, the fewest accepted presentations (93) cover Pediatric oncology.

Amgen Inc. (NASDAQ: AMGN), the largest independent biotech that there is, recently showed updated results from a Phase 2 study showing that treatment with blinatumomab helped achieve a high-rate of complete response in 72% of adult patients with relapsed or refractory B-precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia treated in the study. This blinatumomab is the first of a new class of agents called bi-specific T cell engagers antibodies, which are designed to harness the body’s cell-destroying T cells to kill cancer cells. Blinatumomab targets cells expressing CD19, a protein found on the surface of B-cell derived leukemias and lymphomas, such as ALL. Full results of the study will be presented during an oral abstract session on June 4 at the ASCO Annual Meeting.

ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARIA) recently sold off but will will have updated clinical data from the pivotal PACE trial of ponatinib, its investigational pan-BCR-ABL inhibitor in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) on June 4. The company said that the data will form the basis of its regulatory filings for marketing approval of Ponatinib for patients with chronic myeloid leukemia and Philadelphia-chromosome positive acute lymphoblasatic leukemia.

ArQule, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARQL) and Daiichi Sankyo, Co., Ltd. (Japan) will have an oral presentation at the ASCO Annual Meeting featuring Phase 2 trial data with tivantinib as a single agent investigational second-line treatment in hepatocellular carcinoma. ArQule announced that this randomized, double-blind study met its primary endpoint in January and will now present the full results from this trial, including positive data in the pre-defined c-MET high population. Additional clinical data with tivantinib will be featured in two poster discussions and two general poster sessions.

Array BioPharma Inc. (NASDAQ: ARRY) has recently risen on its lung cancer and melanoma results. The company has three oral presentations at the annual meeting after having already presented Phase 1 data on MEK162 in 28 patients with biliary tract cancer at the ASCO Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium in January 2012 showing that it was well tolerated and showed evidence of clinical efficacy in this patient population, including a complete response and a partial response. Stable disease was observed in 12 patients. The company has licensed selumetinib to AstraZeneca (NYSE: AZN) and licensed MEK162 to Novartis (NYSE: NVS).

That estimate has already been questioned as unemployment stays above 9% and discretionary income remains stagnant. Another indication that this holiday may be nearly disastrous is a new Gallup poll.

According to the research firm, “Americans forecast they will spend $712 on Christmas gifts this year, nearly identical to the $715 they estimated they would spend on Christmas at this time last year.” Holiday sales in 2008 were supposed to be the lowest in years, but Christmas expenditures were $801 that year and $740 in 2009, based on Gallup data.

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that many small retailers are concerned that troubled holiday revenue could push them out of business. A by-product of this would be a weak economy in the first quarter of 2012 as retailers cut staff and close stores because they did not do well in November and December. Job cuts cause higher unemployment, which further undermines national retail sales. This happened in 2008 and 2009. That pattern appears to be one that will be repeated this year as well.

Whatever stimulus packages or jobs programs may come out of Washington are already too late to bolster the economy until the first or perhaps second quarter of 2012. That assumes any bill to help the jobs market will be passed at all.

It is too late in the year to reverse the move into another period of dismal holiday sales. The work to remedy the problem needed to be done much earlier this year. The Nation Retail Federation’s forecasts are too optimistic. Many of its members are in for a hard time.

Methodology: Results for this Gallup poll are based on telephone interviews conducted Oct. 6 to 9, 2011, with a random sample of 1,005 adults, aged 18 and older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.

We have started taking a look at the 30 stocks comprising the Dow Jones Industrial Average to see which stocks had the most implied upside of all DJIA components. We have taken a snapshot of the “mean price target” of each of the 30 DJIA components based upon Thomson Reuters consensus price targets for a year out. This list is expanded beyond just the ten with the most upside because there were more than 10 components with expected double-digit returns and because the list was also dominated by financial and energy stocks. The list of double-digit performance expectations is as follows: Bank of America Corporation (NYSE: BAC), Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX), Cisco Corporation (NASDAQ: CSCO), General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE), Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE: HPQ), Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC), JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM), Kraft Foods Inc. (NYSE: KFT), Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE), Procter & Gamble Co. (NYSE: PG), The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV), Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT), and Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM).

As you will sadly see, Alcoa, Inc. (NYSE: AA) and Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) shares imply more downside than upside as those two stocks are the only DJIA components already trading above their implied one-year consensus mean price targets. We first looked at the Warren Buffett stocks last week with the most implied upside and decided to run the calculation on the 30 DJIA components for this week. The implied results show each ticker, the closing price for 2009, the mean price target from Thomson Reuters, the expected percentage price gain derived by the change in Friday’s price to the mean target, and we even included the 52-week trading range of each component. The results are as follows:

XOM $68.19 $79.29 16.2% 61.86 – 82.73

We ran an average of the “mean price targets” to get an implied consensus upside for the DJIA in 2010. If we average out all of the components, then we end up with an average consensus expected gain of 10.3% for 2010. But then if we eliminate the two expected negative return components and remove the two major banks with an expected gain of 28% and 40% then our expected average gain per component is 9.4%.

We wanted to assign this for a fixed price on the DJIA for 2010, but there is just one problem here. The DJIA is a price-weighted index that cares not about market capitalization. The only matter is the share price of each stock, and almost all DJIA components pay a regular dividend and a stock split or a further index component change will change all of the component weightings. So to be fair, we have taken an average of the averages and assigned an average implied upside of 9.85% for all DJIA components. If this were to be uniform and were not distracted by companies with larger share prices moving up more or less than the lower priced stocks, then the closing price of $10,428.05 for 2009 would imply a DJIA price of approximately $11,455.21 for 2010. As for the DIAMONDS Trust (NYSE: DIA) this implies an upside target of roughly $114.32 for the same period and not taking any index/ETF price tracking changes into account.

We have already given some caveats here. First and foremost, if we used the formal price targets and new implied weightings and backed out dividend payments then we’d end up with a slightly different figure. More importantly, research departments go almost dark in the last two weeks of any given calender year and there are gaps of coverage updates at the end of the year. And that being said, price targets at major research firms often get updated throughout the first weeks of a new calendar year. So toward the end of January we would consider revisiting this to look for new implied targets. We did not include P/E ratios as we normally would since this is the same sort of screen which many value investors would use. The last caveat is also the most irritating one: analysts are fickle and wishy-washy when it comes to price targets, so all of these figures will vary with the direction of the stock market performance.

(NASDAQ: AAPL) and General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE) were hardly picked for 2010. Some of the more common and widely held names that came up as common 2010 stock picks were Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ: CMCSA), Marvell Technology Group Ltd. (NASDAQ: MRVL), Baidu, Inc. (NASDAQ: BIDU), DryShips, Inc. (NASDAQ: DRYS), Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan (NYSE: POT), Level 3 Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: LVLT), Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C), Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX), Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HPQ), and KB Home (NYSE: KBH). There are literally dozens of other stock picks in 2010′s top stock picks.

We have links to the top 2010 stock picks from InvestorPlace.com, TheStreet.com, DailyFinance.com, BloggingStocks.com, MarketWatch, Fortune, Smart Money, MorningStar, and even from our own picks for 2010 and some potential 10-bagger Biotech stocks at BioHealthInvestor.com. In this we have only provided the stock names, and price targets, expectations, and every other detail is in the link at each grouping.
