Detailed Findings & Methodology
While smartphones like the iPhone have been around for years, an increasingly large range of tech products are now marketed as smart. What the word “smart” means depends on the technology, but it usually includes a variety of additional functions beyond the item’s main purpose and often an ability to communicate with other devices.
This year’s list of popular tech products suggests that everything from televisions to speakers to even door locks increasingly incorporate smart technologies that allow them to interface with users and other products. The word smart is used in the names or descriptions of well over half of the products on this list.
24/7 Wall St. reviewed a number of third-party sources, as well as Amazon.com’s section of items commonly bought as gifts to identify hundreds of tech gifts projected to be popular this holiday season. Using Google’s Keyword Planner, we narrowed the list to the items projected to be the most popular search terms from November 11 through December 25.
Items included on this list were selected based exclusively on this methodology. This article includes affiliate links, and 24/7 Wall St. may get a share of the revenue from sales.
