Shares short in Citigroup (NYSE:C) rose 51% to 178.1 million. The short interest in CIT (NYSE:CIT) was up 21% to 85.6 million. Share sold short in Freddie Mac (NYSE:FRE) were up 14% to 71.5 million. Shares short in Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) and JPMorgan (NYSE:JPM) were fairly flat.

Shares sold short in Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) dropped 7% to 76.1%. The short interest in Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) dropped 7% to 38.4 milion. Shares sold short in Yahoo! (NASDAQ:YHOO) and eBay (NYSE:EBAY) also dropped.

The short interest in Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) rose 19% to 60.1 million. Shares short in Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) were up 17% to 47.2 million. Shares short in Symantec (NASDAQ:SYMC) were up 15% to 25.2%.

Over 100 organizations (too many public names to note) and companiesrepresenting every aspect of renewable energy signed a letter senttoday to the President, the Speaker of the House, House MinorityLeader, Senate Majority Leader, and Senate Minority Leader urging fastaction on the extension of federal tax incentives.

Thursday may be a big day for many of these companies in alternativeenetrgy and good old-fashioned brown dirty energy as ExxonMobil is set to post earnings,and the BILLION & BILLION OF DOLLARS in revenues will be a focusregardless of how the stock does.  As many consider Exxon one of theworst environmental companies out there, you can imagine this will be acatalyst for environmentalists.  Goldman Sachs just noted yesterdayabout taking some profits in oil, despite that its Super-Spike band lays out the possibilities of $135/barrel oil and $4.50/gallon gas under extreme circumstances.
