Aeropostale, Inc. (NYSE: ARO) posted a mere 1% gain in July same-store sales and shares are getting crushed.  The stock is down over 9% at $24.90 on over 300,000 shares this morning.

Alexza Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALXA) is down 12% at $2.63 on over 60,000 shares after selling $18 million in a direct stock offering versus a market cap of $158 million before teh dilution and share price drop.

BP plc (NYSE: BP) is trading up 2.5% at $40.40 per ADR on over 1 million shares on talk that Adu Dabi and others are looking at assets under BP.  This is the third day that $40.00 has been seen.

GT Solar International, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOLR) is trading up over 11% at $7.72 on about 100,000 shares after significantly beating earnings estimates.  This is actually a 52-week high as the prior range was $4.51 to $7.20.

Hauppauge Digital Inc. (NASDAQ: HAUP) is this morning’s top gainer after it announced a high definition video recorder support for Windows Media Center.  Shares are up over 16% at $2.42 on over 60,000 shares versus a 52-week range of $0.60 to $4.85.

Jack in the Box Inc. (NYSE: JACK) apparently doesn’t know Jack after earnings.  Shares even halted last night.  This one is indicated down 8% at $19.00 on light volume and the 52-week range is $17.84 to $26.37.

Kulicke and Soffa Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: KLIC) is trading higher after beating earnings and giving a strong outlook.  Shares are trading up 11% at $8.00 on over 120,000 shares.

SandRidge Energy, Inc. (NYSE: SD) is trading lower after cutting its production views for 2010 after earnings.  Shares are down 7% at $5.63 on about 1 million shares and the 52-week trading range is $5.20 to $15.00.

Veeco Instruments Inc. (NASDAQ: VECO) is down 7.7% at $42.00 versus a $45.52 close and we have seen over 50,000 shares trade hands.

BioSante Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: BPAX) is trading up after announcing positive results of an evaluation of its 2A/Furin technology by Novartis Pharma AG.  Shares were up 5% earlier but shares are up 1.5% at $1.98 on 30,000 shares.

China Techfaith Wireless Communication Technology Limited (NASDAQ: CNTF) is soaring on thin volume after earnings. Revenue was $60.9 million, up 1.8% from Q4-2009 and up 25.1% from the same period of last year.  Shares are up 15% at $2.61 on about 5,000 shares.

Geron Corporation (NASDAQ: GERN) is trading higher this morning on an analyst upgrade and on news that it appointed Hoyoung Huh and Robert Spiegel to its Board of Directors.  While not a lot has been seen in share volumes, the stock is up only about 1% at $5.34 on fairly thin volume.  The 52-week trading range is $4.85 to $9.24 and the average trading volume is roughly 1.1 million shares.

Hauppauge Digital, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAUP) is down again in the pre-market trading after briefly becoming the fad cult stock with exponential gains last week.  Shares were down over 3% at $3.00 on last look.

Netease.com Inc. (NASDAQ: NTES) is trading down almost in the double-digits after the company earned $0.51 EPS, under Thomson Reuters estimate of $0.61.  Revenues were also under plan at $175.1 million also missed expectations for $185.9 million.

Randgold Resources Limited (NASDAQ: GOLD) is trading lower this morning with the soft gold market.  Shares are down 5.25% at $79.54 on almost 100,000 shares.

SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (NASDAQ: SIRI) is lower this morning on no ral news.  Shares were down 3.8% at $1.01 on almost 1 million shares.

Geron Corporation (NASDAQ: GERN), king of the stem cells, is up after it reported data on its small molecule Telomerase Activator in model of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.  Shares are up 4.8% at $6.68 on about 20,000 shares, which feels like muted volume for a stem cell stock on news.

Hauppauge Digital, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAUP) continues to play the great game of giving back those exponential gains now that reality has set in.  Shares closed at $3.07, but are now down over 7% at $2.85 on almost 50,000 shares.

American Superconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: AMSC) is up after it received a new multi-year order worth approximately $445 million from Sinovel Wind Group, the world’s third largest wind turbine manufacturer.  AMSC will begin shipping core electrical components in early 2011.  Shares are trading up by 5.5% at $32.68 on light trading volume.

Fresenius Kabi Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: APCVZ) was a huge percentage runner on Friday, but this is a penny stock and we will avoid the news on penny stocks.  Shares are up again this morning.  Shares are up 30% at $0.23 on over 1.5 million shares.

Double-Take Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: DBTK) is up after Vision Solutions is acquiring it for $10.55 per share.  Shares closed at $9.66 Friday and the stock is up 6.6% at $10.30 this morning on about 85,000 shares.

Hauppauge Digital, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAUP) was last week’s exponential runner and now the newest cult stock.  Shares closed at $3.93 on Friday, yet the stock is down 12.2% at $3.45 on over 200,000 shares this morning.  Hauppauge was one of our UNUSUAL SUSPECTS over the weekend.

Lowe’s Companies Inc. (NYSE: LOW) is trading lower despite beating earnings: $0.34 EPS vs. $0.31 expected from Thomson Reuters. Revenue was up almost 5% to $12.4B vs. $12.2B expected.  The problem is that analyst expectations were higher than what guidance was for ahead.  Shares are down 4.6% at $24.86 on over 300,000 shares.  The Home Depot, Inc. (NYSE: HD) reports tomorrow morning, and the Lowe’s numbers have it down over 1% at $34.80 on thin trading volume in sympathy.

OSI Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: OSIP) closed at $59.80 and it did get a higher bid from Astellas’ $52.00 offer.  The problem is that the bid came in at $57.50 and OSI had put the deadline at Friday.  Shares are down 4.3% at $57.33 on almost 700,000 shares this morning.  This was also an UNUSUAL SUSPECTS member over the weekend.

SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (NASDAQ: SIRI) is up after it raised guidance for 2010: net subscriber adds raised to 750,000; revenue to be $2.75 billion; adjusted income from operations to be approximately $575 million; free cash flow for 2010 now expected to exceed $100 million.  Shares are trading up 3.7% at $1.11 on about 2 million shares.  Shares were up at $1.13-1.14 earlier on the news.

TiVo Inc. (NASDAQ: TIVO) was downgraded at Kaufman this morning after the bad court review news on Friday, and this was after a Lazard downgrade late on Friday.  We compiled over the weekend the technical trade set-up data for levels to watch this week.  Shares are trading actually up almost 1% at $10.25 on less than 100,000 shares.  We expect trading volume to be elevated in this for the next few days.

A123 Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:AONE) announced today the initial public offering of 28,180,501 shares of its common stock at $13.50 per share on September 24, 2010.  This is now trading as a busted IPO, but shares have recovered $2.00 off the lows.  This was a hot IPO with a great future in lithium and future car battery operations and shares closed up 19% this last week after earnings despite a wider loss.

Baidu, Inc. (NASDAQ: BIDU) is now THE battleground stock of the internet space now after its 10 for 1 stock split in the ADS shares took the stock from an implied $71.42 to over $82 before falling all the way back down to close the week out at $73.98.  Jim Cramer said SELL, and options contracts are now through the roof.  With an adjusted trading range of $23.23 to $82.29 over the last year, traders are active in the stock as the winner after Google left China.

Bank of Ireland plc (NYSE: IRE) announced late on Friday that its rights issue will come at a 41.7% discount to theoretical ex-rights price, based on Friday’s closing share price of EURO 1.534.  This comes to a 64% discount to Friday’s closing price.  The state will now end up holding a maximum of 36% of the bank’s newly larger ordinary share count.  Shares of the ADR were down 4.4% on Friday at $7.75 but had been down about 7% before the rights issue came across the broad tape.

I hate to say it, but the gold rush is getting silly.  SPDR Gold Shares (NYSE: GLD) is THE go-to play for gold investors.  Inflows were big again over the last two weeks and the size of the fund is now listed on the site as having $48,253,849,630.33 worth of gold in the trust and Google lists the most recent implied market cap as $47 billion.  The current situation is entirely a move out of currencies and everyone knows there just is not enough gold to go around if actual demand comes in on top of asset demand.  This week I told OptionsZone the highest reward and lowest premium bet against gold with some time value was the the GLD June 110 Puts at $0.43 on Thursday; and due to the volatility picking up the contract went out at $0.56.  Ultimately gold can keep rising, but some moves are just too easy to take the other side of with very little premium.

Hauppauge Digital Inc. (NASDAQ: HAUP) was this last week’s return of the Phoenix.  This graphics and tuner company announced this week that it now launched live support for the iPhone and iPad… Its WinTV-HVR TV tuner boards for PCs can now stream live TV over the Internet. The WinTV v7.2 application will include WinTV Extend and will be available directly from Hauppauge at a cost of $9.95.  Great right?  The problem is that Hauppauge went from $1.00 to as high as $4.80 before closing out the week at $3.93 and it traded over 29 million shares on Friday to end up with a market cap of $39.5 million.  This is now the newest cult stock in tech, but keep in mind that Hauppauge has been public for about 15 years and has a long history of big swings up then big swings down from before, during, and after the old tech bubble.

Kraft Foods Inc. (NYSE: KFT) was given an article in Barron’s calling it very undervalued as shares are trading around $30.00, right where the stock came public in 2001.  The article did not give an exact upside target, but said that Warren Buffett called it cheap (largest holder of Kraft) and Ackman of Pershing Square recently bought and once said it could rise to $45.00 (but that is not a fresh call).  If the market doesn’t get shelled on Monday, we’d expect an opening price around $30.50 versus a 52-week range of $24.40 to $31.09.

Baidu, Inc. (NASDAQ: BIDU) sold off yesterday after an initial post-split pop-up, and shares are lower again after Jim Cramer gave it a ‘sell’ call on CNBC’s MAD MONEY.  Shares are down 2.7% at $73.58 on 140,000 shares.

BioSphere Medical, Inc. (NASDAQ: BSMD) is surging on thin volume after the announcement that it will be acquired by Merit Medical Systems for about $96 million in cash for $4.38 per share.  Shares were trading up 43% at $4.30 on about 15,000 shares.

Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) is trading lower with the market but also on word that NPD showed a 26% decline in video game sales.  This should have been known at least by EA because they already got hit recently on guidance after a poor earnings report.  Shares are down 2.2% at $17.69 on over 40,000 shares.

Hauppauge Digital Inc. (NASDAQ: HAUP) was one of the huge stealth news stocks yesterday that posted what looks to be an exponential run at the end of the day.  The news is that its WinTV-HVR TV tuner boards for PCs can now stream live TV over the Internet to the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch and any Apple Macintosh computer which supports a Safari web browser.  The last 30 minutes brought literally a 200% rally to $3.03 and shares are up another 37% at $4.17 on over 600,000 shares.  This is a new 52-week high and average volume is under 70,000 shares.

J. C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE: JCP) reported $0.25 EPS vs. $0.11 EPS a year ago, for a gain of 140% in net income. This only meets estimates and we saw both Kohl’s (KSS) and Nordstrom (JWN) lower after earnings yesterday.  JCP shares are down 2% at $26.60 on under 10,000 shares pre-market; shares were down almost 2% yesterday as well.

National Bank of Greece SA (NYSE: NBG) is in the dog house again, always in the dog house. The E.U. and emerging markets are lower and NBG is down 2.5% at $2.72 on the thought that the bailout in the E.U. does nothing long-term.

NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) was lower this morning due to sales guidance being deemed a disappointment after earnings last night.  Shares are down 5.8% at $13.80 on 250,000 shares.

Strategic Hotels & Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: BEE) is lower after selling 66 million shares in a secondary offering versus a $5.20 close.  Shares are trading down 5.7% at $4.90 on already almost 2 million shares.  The 52-week range is $0.94 to $6.97 and the average volume is only 2.7 million shares.

Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ: YHOO) it trading higher after a quick Jim Cramer tout on CNBC’s MAD MONEY.  Cramer said with its Alibaba stake it is worth $20 to $25 per share.  Shares are up 1.6% at $16.40 on almost 50,000 shares.  Normally that might not be much, but this is with a down-market today.
