(AZO); Crown Castle International Corp. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/crown-castle-international-corp/cci">NYSE: CCI</a>); Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/chipotle-mexican-grill/cmg">NYSE: CMG</a>); FMC Corp. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/fmc-corp/fmc">NYSE: FMC</a>); Gap, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/gap/gps">NYSE: GPS</a>); PPG Industries Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/ppg-industries-inc/ppg">NYSE: PPG</a>); Red Hat, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/red-hat-inc/rht">NYSE: RHT</a>); Total System Services, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/total-system-services/tss">NYSE: TSS</a>); Visa, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/visa-inc/v">NYSE: V</a>); and Whole Foods Market, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nasdaq/whole-foods-market/wfm">NASDAQ: WFM</a>).</p>
<p>The biggest questions to ask are 1) what makes these stock charts strong? and 2) what does it mean going forward?  <a href="http://www.chartlabpro.com" target="_blank">ChartLabPro.com’s</a> algorithms use a quantitative approach that aim to forecast patterns by identifying consistent investment themes. The methodology uses over 200 indicators and scores them to locate trends in their early stages constantly running scenarios to locate inefficiencies and trends in stocks.  Only four of the ten strongest stock charts were in the top ten strongest charts last week.</p>
<p>The current chart shows the year-to-date gains, prices for support and resistance on each stock, as well as an indication of just how strong each 5-rating or &#8220;strong buy&#8221; on a short-term trend.  The strongest stock charts are never based solely on year-to-date performance but on more recent patterns.  This aims to put the longer-term trends into a better short-term picture for the more active traders out there. The top 10 names on average are up 25.78% year-to-date and up 1.57% month-to-date.  Compares that to the S&amp;P 500 Index with gains of 8.2% year-to-date and a loss of -2.74% month-to-date.</p>

<p>The 5 strongest charts in the technology sector are as follows: Crown Castle International Corp. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/crown-castle-international-corp/cci">NYSE: CCI</a>); VeriSign, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nasdaq/verisign-inc/vrsn">NASDAQ: VRSN</a>); Red Hat, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/red-hat-inc/rht">NYSE: RHT</a>); Intuit Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nasdaq/intuit-inc/intu">NASDAQ: INTU</a>); and salesforce.com, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/salesforcecom/crm">NYSE: CRM</a>).  These strongest names are up 31.4% year to date against a 8% gain for the S&amp;P 500 Index.</p>
<p>The 5 weakest charts in the technology sector are currently the following: First Solar, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nasdaq/first-solar/fslr">NASDAQ: FSLR</a>); Electronic Arts Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nasdaq/electronic-arts/ea">NASDAQ: EA</a>); SanDisk Corporation (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nasdaq/sandisk-corp/sndk">NASDAQ: SNDK</a>); Windstream Corporation (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nasdaq/windstream-corp/win">NASDAQ: WIN</a>); and Frontier Communications Corporation (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nasdaq/frontier-communications/ftr">NASDAQ: FTR</a>).  These weakest names are down 22.5% year to date and down almost 10% so far in April.</p>

<p>The following stocks have exhibited the strongest chart patterns: AutoZone Inc. (AZO); Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/chipotle-mexican-grill/cmg">NYSE: CMG</a>); The Home Depot, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/the-home-depot-inc/hd">NYSE: HD</a>); Intel Corporation (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nasdaq/intel-corp/intc">NASDAQ: INTC</a>); Intuitive Surgical, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nasdaq/intuitive-surgical/isrg">NASDAQ: ISRG</a>); Philip Morris International, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/philip-morris-international/pm">NYSE: PM</a>); Red Hat, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/red-hat-inc/rht">NYSE: RHT</a>); Sempra Energy (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/sempra-energy/sre">NYSE: SRE</a>); Unitedhealth Group, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nyse/unitedhealth-group/unh">NYSE: UNH</a>); and Whole Foods Market, Inc. (<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nasdaq/whole-foods-market/wfm">NASDAQ: WFM</a>).</p>
<p>These names year to date have outperformed the S&amp;P 500 by 12.92%.  During the month of April these particular stocks have risen an average of 0.66% while the S&amp;P 500 has actually fallen by a rate of -3.31%.</p>
<p>As always, past performance is not indicative of future results.  These results for the strongest names are updated daily and stronger names do rotate daily into the composite of the top 10.</p>
<p>Currently the 10 stocks featured this week are not technically overbought, but they are approaching a overbought condition according to the methodology used by the Chartlabpro.com model.</p>
<p>The methodology from chartlabpro.com shows that a 5 rating is considered a Strong Buy and conversely a 1 is a Strong Sell.  As a reminder, Chipotle, Intel, Philip Morris International, and Unitedhealth Group are due to report quarterly earnings in the coming days.</p>
<p>Featured exclusively for 24/7 Wall St. by <a href="http://www.chartlabpro.com" target="_blank">ChartLabPro.com</a>.</p>

US natural gas inventories rose much more than expected (our coverage <a title="Natural Gas Inventories Rise, Prices Fall Again" href="http://247wallst.com/2012/03/29/natural-gas-inventories-rise-prices-fall-again/">here</a>) and a promise from the IEA to be ready with another release from national strategic oil reserves hit energy stocks hard (more coverage <a title="IEA Promises Will Act on Oil Prices" href="http://247wallst.com/2012/03/29/iea-promises-will-act-on-oil-prices/">here</a>). The US dollar index rose today, now up 0.08% at 79.186. Commodities were virtually all lower on the stronger dollar. This morning’s report on falling durable goods orders got things off on the wrong foot (our coverage <a title="Durable Goods Gain, But Lag Estimates" href="http://247wallst.com/2012/03/28/durable-goods-gain-but-lag-estimates/">here</a>). The US crude oil commercial inventory grew by a larger-than-expected amount, pushing crude prices down significantly (our coverage <a title="US Petroleum Inventories Jump, Imports Rise Sharply" href="http://247wallst.com/2012/03/28/us-petroleum-inventories-jump-imports-rise-sharply/">here</a>). The US dollar index rose today, now up 0.12% at 79.140. Commodities were mostly lower on the stronger dollar. WTI crude oil closed down about -1.9% at $105.41/barrel, and Brent crude trades down -1.09% at $124.17/barrel. Gold settled down -1.6% today, at $1,657.90/ounce.</p>
<p>The unofficial closing bells put the DJIA down nearly 72 points to 13,126.06 (-0.54%), the NASDAQ fell more than 15 points (-0.49%) to 3,104.96, and the S&amp;P 500 fell -0.49% or nearly 7 points to 1,405.54.</p>

(<a href="http://247wallst.dailyfinance.com/quote/nasdaq/directv-group-inc/dtv">NASDAQ: DTV</a>) raised to ‘buy’ at Citigroup and reiterated as ‘buy’ at Canaccord Genuity; Kinder Morgan Inc.
