BP plc (NYSE: BP) is rallying on an analyst upgrade at RBS and after it denied that it was looking for a white knight investor to take a large stake to help it raise capital.  Shares are up 6% and they are not just back over the old $30.00 hurdle.  That 6% gain in ADRs is up to $31.11.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: CTIC) is trading up after the company advanced its Pixantrone filing process in the E.U. with an expanded pediatric investigation plan.  Shares were up about 9% in earlier indications, and shares are up about 7% at $0.41 on fairly light volume.

Citigroup, Inc. (NYSE: C) may actually be the biggest winner in the JPMorgan upgrade of Goldman Sachs due only to its low share price and its trading volume.  Shares are up 1.6% at $3.85, but at almost 4 million shares it is one of the most actives.

Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. (NYSE: CLF) is trading higher on the report that Spider Resources has broken off its agreement to merge with KWG Resources.  The firm said that it accepted Cliffs’ offer to take over the company. All three of these outfits are partners in a chromite project in Northern Ontario.  Shares are up almost 3.5% at $48.49.

Fidelity National Information Services Inc. (NYSE: FIS) is up after it launched its planned $2.5 billion stock repurchase program and unveiled a $1.2 billion note sale to help fund it.  Shares are up just over 4% at $27.50.

JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. (NASDAQ: JASO) is up almost 4% at $5.27 after it announced a multi-year supply pact with MEMC which starts in Q3 and goes through 2012.

SonicWALL, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNWL) is down and one of the more active NASDAQ issues in pre-market trading: it said an unsolicited third-party has advised that it no longer intends to pursue the buyout of SonicWALL; its Board continues to recommend that SNWL shareholders vote for the merger with affiliates of Thoma Bravo and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan at the special meeting for holders on July 23.   Shares closed at $11.78 Friday and the stock is down about 3.25% at $11.40 on over 350,000 shares.

BP plc (NYSE: BP) is trading lower again.  Reports are out that a single bill was sent in from the White House for over $51 million.  The problem is that the BP ADRs are trading under $30.00 this morning.  Shares are down over 3% at $29.25 in active trading.  Keep in mind that the prior 52-week low is $29.00.

Dell Inc. (NASDAQ: DELL) is considering going private, according to MarketWatch. But the problem is that there is nothing new here.  Michael Dell already threw that notion out before.  Shares are down 1% on thin volume at $13.80.

EnteroMedics, Inc. (NASDAQ: ETRM) announced updated data from its EMPOWER study showing that it saw significant sustained improvements in glycemic control and blood pressure.  Shares are up by 30% at $0.38 on about 25,000 shares.  With a $13 million market cap, this one can go either way.  The 52-week range is $0.27 to $5.58.

Evergreen Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: ESLR) signed an agreement with Praxair China to supply bulk industrial gases.  Shares are up 2.5% at $0.88 but these supply pacts often end up fading when terms are not set.

Extreme Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: EXTR) is trading up after it was selected by the Austrian Ministry of the Interior for data center and local networks addressing national security.  There have only been about 7,000 shares traded but shares are up 7% at $3.06 this morning versus a 52-week range of $1.65 to $3.79.

Molecular Insight Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: MIPI) is trading up this morning after it received a third extension of its debt-holder waiver agreement.  Shares are up 13% at $2.04 as it gets to continue restructuring plans.

SonicWALL Inc. (NASDAQ: SNWL) is up on word that it is being sued by holders for selling itself to cheaply.  Shares were up 5% earlier and the stock is now trading up 4.7% at $11.89 on more than 2 million shares.

Uranium Resources, Inc. (NASDAQ: URRE) is trading lower after pricing a public secondary offering of 23,809,500 shares at $0.42 per share. Shares closed at $0.52 yesterday and the stock is trading down 15.5% at $0.44.  With shares close to 300,000 already, it has passed an average day’s volume.

Walgreen Company (NYSE: WAG) is lower after the drugstore giant reported earnings at $0.53 EPS, shy of Thomson Reuters figures by $0.04. Revenues were up 6% to $17.2 billion, above the $17.1 billion estimate.  Shares are down 2.5% at $29.38 on about 150,000 shares and the 52-week range is $27.89 to $40.69.

BP plc (NYSE: BP) is somehow up even though it was downgraded by Fitch, which may widen out its credit default swap rates even further.  The new rating is AA from AA+.  Shares are up 3.6% at $39.02 per ADR on close to 2 million shares.

Exide Technologies (NASDAQ: XIDE) is trading higher after the firm reported a loss cut a day after its President/COO resigned.  Shares are now up 33% at $5.70 on over 170,000 shares.

Javelin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (AMEX: JAV) is getting speared over a breach of merger agreement.  Shares are down 20% at $1.21 on well over 2 million shares.

Joy Global, Inc. (NASDAQ: JOYG) is soaring after it reported earnings of $1.15 EPS.  That was about $0.38 higher than estimates; Revenue fell 3% to about $896 million, also above estimates of $756 million.  Shares are up 8.6% at $56.98 on over 70,000 shares.

SonicWALL, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNWL) is soaring after it signed a deal to be acquired by Thoma Bravo, LLC in a transaction valued at about $717 million.  Shares are up over 25% at $11.32 on well over 1.3 million shares.

Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd. (NYSE: STP) is down despite some cautious earnings.  It reported that its Q1 EPS was $0.11, short of the $0.13 estimate from Thomson Reuters. Revenue rose about 85% to $588 million, which is in-line with estimates.  Shares are up almost 2% at $9.92 on almost 50,000 shares on day when they might have been lower on the news.
