As of September 30, 2011, Sequenom had more than $101 million spread out among is cash, cash equivalents, and short-term and long-term investments.  Long-term debt is only $11.67 million and total liabilities were only $42.1 million.

Sequenom shares are down over 3% at $4.01 after closing at $4.14 yesterday.  Be advised that the 52-week range is $3.95 to $8.71, so this is very close to a potential capital raise when shares are back at their weakest level in some time.

Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM) is down nearly 12% premarket to $42.30, relative to a 52-week range of $24.64-$54-65. The company reported positive earnings which were nevertheless below analyst expectations.

Cisco Systems, Inc.  (NASDAQ: CSCO) is down more percent on very high volume to $19.69, relative to a 52-week range of $19.00-$27.47. Cisco reported atrocious second quarter earnings after market close yesterday.

Sequenom, Inc. (NASDAQ: SQNM) is up nearly 13% on heavy volume, relative to a 52-week range of $4.10-$8.65.

EZchip Semiconductor (NASDAQ: EZCH) is down 13% premarket to $27.80, relative to a 52-week range of $13.13-$33.48.

Affymetrix, Inc. (NASDAQ: AFFX) is up 13% to $5.30, relative to a 52-week range of $3.75-$8.38. The company announced a distribution agreement with Fisher Scientific Inc.

China Recycling Energy Group (NASDAQ: CREG) is up more than 15% premarket to $3.50, relative to a 52-week range of $2.58-$6.16. The company recently replaced its CEO.

Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. (NASDAQ: BBBY) is up almost 6% at $50.49 at a new high above the prior $48.96 after it beat earnings, raised guidance, and announced a $2 billion share buyback plan.

Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. (NYSE: JAS) is surging on news that it will be acquired by Leonard Green & Partners, L.P. for $61.00 per share in cash; shares are up 33% at $60.81 on over 300,000 shares.

LM Ericsson Telephone Co. (NASDAQ: ERIC) is lower after Goldman Sachs downgraded the stock.  Shares are indicated down only about 1.2% at $11.27 on 150,000 shares. It could have been worse…

Micron Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: MU) is lower after earnings were deemed short of estimates and as the company talked about soft PC demand and memory pricing pressures.  Shares are down 2.8% at $8.05 on almost 700,000 shares.

Sequenom Inc. (NASDAQ: SQNM) is trading higher on news that “Sequenom CMM has commenced its pivotal clinical validation study for its SensiGene Trisomy 21 laboratory developed test.”  Shares wer eup over 5% earlier but the stock is up 3.35% at $7.98 on over 50,000 share spre-market.

Verigy, Ltd. (NASDAQ: VRGY) is trading higher on a sweetened takeover offer to $15 per share; shares are up 8% at $13.65 on almost 4 million shares so far in the pre-market.
