Top 10 Tech Earnings on Deck (INTC, LLTC, ADTN, XLNX, ASML, IBM, AMD, FCS, GOOG, NOK)

DRAM ImageWe have many key technology stocks reporting earnings this coming week.  Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) will start things off to give us a read on semiconductors and PCs. Linear Technology Corp. (NASDAQ: LLTC), ADTRAN, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADTN), Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX), ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ: ASML), International Business Machines (NYSE: IBM), Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD), Fairchild Semiconductor International, Inc. (NYSE: FCS), Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG), and Nokia Corp. (NYSE: NOK) are also all on deck for earnings this week.

We have compiled Thomson Reuters figures for the consensus estimates and appropriate performance data where needed.  We based the comparisons for the June 30 close to see how these have performed in the latest quarter and we also looked for that big inflection date of March 9 to see how much these have rallied from the height of the market panic selling.

Top Day Trader Alerts (AMR, XLNX, ALTR, NTES, PALM, STX)

AMR Corp. (NYSE: AMR) is holding up rather well considering it boosted its secondary offering size considerably.

Xilinx, Inc. (Nasdaq: XLNX) is soaring enough on its September guidance that it is also lifting Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR).

Netease.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTES) is down on a single block trade of over 437,000 shares.

Morgan Stanley’s Key Technology Upgrades & Downgrades (IBM, DELL, CTXS, ADSK, NVLS, TXN, STM, PMCS, QLGC, LRCX, XLNX)

Bull and Bear ImageMorgan Stanley has made several key downgrades in technology, as well as a few lesser upgrades.  Both IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Dell Inc. (NASDAQ: DELL) were downgraded to Equal-Weight from Overweight.  Also cut to underweight were Citrix Systems (NASDAQ: CTXS) and Autodesk (NASDAQ: ADSK).  Novellus Systems (NASDAQ: NVLS) and Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN) were downgraded to Equal-Weight from Overweight; and STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) was cut to Underweight.

There were actually a few Morgan Stanley upgrades in the broader call as well.  PMC-Sierra (NASDAQ: PMCS), QLogic (NASDAQ: QLGC), Lam Research (NASDAQ: LRCX) and Xilinx (NASDAQ: XLNX) were all raised to Overweight.

Top Day Trader Alerts (MOS, POT, CIT, NOK, JPM, CTAS, XLNX, PLCM, SLT)

These are some of the top stocks to watch this morning for active trading today based on pre-market and after-hours volume activity. There are links through to each with more detailed coverage and volume analysis at VSInvestor.com:

Mosaic Co. (NYSE: MOS) shares are up roughly 12 percent in premarket trade to $50 on takeover speculation, with rivals including Potash Corp. (NYSE: POT) also seeing some early bids.

CIT Group (CIT) shares are likely to see a volume spike Thursday after newspaper reports suggest that a government bailout might not be cards, and talks reportedly broke down.

Stocks moving on earnings this morning include Nokia (NYSE: NOK) and JP Morgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM). Others could move include Cintas Corp. (Nasdaq: CTAS), Xilinx Inc. (Nasdaq: XLNX) and Polycom Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCM).

Sterlite Industries (NYSE: SLT) may see a volume spike lower after a stock offering that priced at a 6 percent discount.

This week will mark the kickoff for the real flood of Q2-2009 earnings season.  We have many key technology stocks reporting earnings this week and these should help to craft the post-earnings bias for traders for the following two weeks.  Novellus Systems Inc.
