Winner Of Nobel Economics Prize Seems Crestfallen

December 8, 2008 by Douglas A. McIntyre

HouseWinning the Nobel Prize should brighten the spirit, especially since it comes with a $1.3 million cash prize.

Not so for Paul Krugman, this year’s winner for economics. He is simply too depressed about the future.

According to Reuters, "A scenario I fear is that we’ll see, for the whole world, an equivalent of Japan’s lost decade, the 1990s — that we’ll see a world of zero interest rates, deflation, no sign of recovery, and it will just go on for a very extended period."

Imagine what he would have said if he had been a loser.
