Building A Competitor To Dell (DELL) and HP (HPQ)
August 7, 2007 by Douglas A. McIntyreThe two big Asian PC makers, Acer and Lenovo, are in talks to buy European PC company Packard Bell, according to Reuters. That would give one of them a strong foothold in two regions important to Dell (DELL) and Hewlett-Packard (HPQ).
Dell has about 15% of the global PC market. Lenovo has over 8% of the market, so a purchase could get it above 10%.
And, that much closer to Dell.
