Markets in Europe were higher at 6.10 AM New York time.

The FTSE rose .6% to 6,701. BHP Billiton (BHP) rose 2.1% to 1881. Northern Rock fell 2.8% to 185.3 Rio Tinto (RTP) moved up 3.2% to 4557.

The DAXX rose .7% to 8,001. Siemens (SI) rose 2.1% to 93.77. VW rose 3.4% to 188.05.

The CAC 40 moved up .7% to 5,834. France Telecom (FTE) rose 1.1% to 25.94.
