St Louis: The Most Crime-Ridden City In America

November 22, 2010 by Douglas A. McIntyre

The mayor and residents of St. Louis will not like this, but the city is the most crime-ridden in the United States. This may shock some, as most people would have guessed Detroit, or Cleveland.  Actually, that designation belongs to Camden, NJ near Philadelphia.  Rounding out the list were Detroit, Flint, Mich., and Oakland, Calif. The data is from a study by CG Press, which covers 400 cities nationwide.

The safest cities listed is topped by Colonie, NY, O’Fallon, Missouri, Ramapo, New York, Mission Viego, California, Clarkston, New York, and Amherst, New York. New York State may have to brace for an inflow of families with children.

Among America’s largest cities, New York is No. 123, the highest rank of large metros. San Diego is N0. 180, San Antonia is No. 217, Los Angeles is No 243, Denver No. 260, San Francisco No. 271, Boston No. 288, Houston No. 365, Philadelphia No. 371. and Washington No. 379,

And, with city budget cuts in areas like law enforcement, the average level of crime is bound to get worse.
