Friday’s 52-Week Low Club Includes Seres Therapeutics, America Movil

July 29, 2016: Here are four stocks trading with relatively heavy volume among 32 equities making new 52-week lows in Friday’s session. NYSE advancers led decliners by about 2 to 1 and Nasdaq decliners and advancers traded about even.

Seres Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: MCRB) lost more than 77% Friday to post a new 52-week low of $8.05 versus a high of $52.00 after closing Thursday at $35.77. Volume totaled more than 35 million shares, about 140 times more than the daily average of about 288,000 shares. The company’s microbiome drug failed a mid-stage clinical trial.

America Movil SAB de CV (NYSE: AMX) dropped about 6.2% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $11.02 after closing at $211.75 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $19.72. Volume was nearly 3 times the daily average of around 4.2 million shares. The Mexican telecom company posted profits that were 45% below last year’s level on Thursday night.

Stericycle Inc. (NASDAQ: SRCL) dropped more than 22% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $81.99 against a 52-week high of $151.57. Volume of around 9.3 million was more than 7 times the daily average of around 1.3 million. The stock closed at $105.93 on Thursday night. The medical waste management firm cut its forecasts and also said it had improperly recognized certain 2015 legal costs.

MDC Partners Inc. (NASDAQ: MDCA) dropped nearly 32% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $12.38 against a 52-week high of $23.90. Volume of around 5 million was about 7 times the daily average of around 650,000. The stock closed at $18.19 on Thursday night. The owner of several advertising agencies reported plunging profits late Thursday.
