Dermira, BRF Again Dip into Tuesday’s 52-Week Low Club

March 6, 2018: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 45 equities making new 52-week lows in Tuesday’s session. On the NYSE advancers led decliners by about 2 to 1 and on the Nasdaq, advancers led decliners by the same ratio.

BRF SA (NYSE: BRFS) dropped about 1.8% Tuesday to post a new 52-week low of $7.45. Shares closed at $7.59 on Monday and the stock’s 52-week high is $15.50. Volume was around 6.7 million, about three times the daily average. The Brazilian food processor’s former CEO was arrested for fraud on Monday.

Dermira Inc. (NASDAQ: DERM) traded down about 0.6% Tuesday and posted a new 52-week low of $8.55 after closing Monday at $8.59. The stock’s 52-week high is $38.03. Volume was about six times the daily average of around 1.1 million shares. The company announced Monday that its trial of a new acne treatment failed to meet the designated endpoints.

VEON Ltd. (NASDAQ: VEON) fell about 3% Tuesday to post a new 52-week low of $2.83 after closing at $2.92 on Monday. The 52-week high is $4.47. Volume of nearly 5.9 million was about 25% above the daily average. The company had no specific news.

SCYNEXIS Inc. (NASDAQ: SCYX) traded down nearly 19% Tuesday and posted a new 52-week low of $1.35 after closing Monday at $1.66. The stock’s 52-week high is $3.24. Volume was around 3.8 million, about 25 times the daily average of around 180,000. The company announced a price of $1.69 per share for a secondary offering to raise $30 million.
