Monday’s Biggest Winners and Losers in the S&P 500

June 11, 2018: The S&P 500 closed up 0.1% at 2,782.03. The DJIA closed flat at 25,322.86. Separately, the Nasdaq was up 0.2% at 7,659.93.

Monday was a positive day for the broad U.S. markets, although marginally. The Nasdaq is holding near its all-time high and the S&P 500 is just below the 2,800 mark. Crude oil inched higher to close out the week just at $66. The S&P 500 sectors were mostly positive. The most positive sectors were consumer staples and energy up 0.9% and 0.6%, respectively. The worst performing sectors were utilities and finance down 0.3% and flat, respectively.

Crude oil was last seen trading up 0.5% at $66.09.

Gold was last seen trading flat at $1,304.20.

The S&P 500 stock posting the largest daily percentage loss ahead of the close was Stryker Corp. (NYSE: SYK) which traded down about 5% at $170.33. The stock’s 52-week range is $137.70 to $179.84. Volume was about 4 million compared to the daily average volume of 1.1 million.

The stock posting the largest daily percentage gain in the S&P 500 ahead of the close was Sempra Energy (NYSE: SRE) which rose over 15% to $117.18. The stock’s 52-week range is $100.49 to $122.98. Volume was about 12 million compared to the daily average volume of 2 million.
