Tuesday’s Biggest Winners and Losers in the S&P 500

June 19, 2018: The S&P 500 closed down 0.4% at 2,762.57. The DJIA closed down 1.2% at 24,699.46. Separately, the Nasdaq was down 0.3% at 7,725.58.

Tuesday was another down day for the broad U.S. markets, with all major exchanges taking a step back. Crude oil recovered a little, then backed off again and is hovering just above $65. The S&P 500 sectors were mostly negative. The most positive sectors were consumer staples and utilities, up 0.4% and 0.9%, respectively. The worst performing sectors were industrials and materials, down 2.2% and 1.9%, respectively.

Crude oil was last seen trading down 1.1% at $65.12.

Gold was last seen trading down 0.2% at $1,278.10.

The stock posting the largest daily percentage loss in the S&P 500 ahead of the close was The Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) which fell about 4% to $340.82. The stock’s 52-week range is $196.45 to $374.48. Volume was 6.3 million compared to the daily average volume of 4.5 million.

The S&P 500 stock posting the largest daily percentage gain ahead of the close was CVS Health Corp. (NYSE: CVS) which traded up over 4% at $70.77. The stock’s 52-week range is $60.14 to $84.00. Volume was nearly 10 million compared to the daily average volume of 8.7 million.
