MGM Resorts, Frontier Communications Visit Thursday’s 52-Week Low Club

July 5, 2018: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 51 equities making new 52-week lows in Thursday’s shortened session. On the NYSE advancers led decliners by about 2.86 to 1 and on the Nasdaq, advancers led decliners by about 2.38 to 1.

Black Box Corp. (NASDAQ: BBOX) traded flat Thursday to match its 52-week low of $0.75 after closing Tuesday at $0.75. The stock’s 52-week high is $8.45. Volume was more than 40 times the daily average of about 180,000 shares. The company warned on Tuesday that it could face bankruptcy. Shares rose in Thursday trading and are on track to post a gain of about 30% for the day.

New York Community Bancorp Inc. (NYSE: NYCB) dropped about 1.7% Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $10.80. Shares closed at $11.07 on Tuesday, and the stock’s 52-week high is $14.53. Volume totaled around 6 million shares, about 25% above the daily average. The company had no specific news. The stock is on track to post a gain of less than 1% on the day.

MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) fell about 0.4% Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $27.88. Shares closed at $27.98 on Tuesday. The 52-week high is $38.41. Volume of around 5 million was about half the daily average. The company had no specific news, but shares are on track for a gain of about 1.1% on the day.

Frontier Communications Corp. (NASDAQ: FTR) traded down about 1.8% Thursday and posted a new 52-week low of $4.90 after closing Tuesday at $4.99. The stock’s 52-week high is $18.21. Volume totaled around 3 million, roughly 25% below the daily average. The company had no specific news and is on track for a gain of 2.5% today.
