Dentsply, Newell Brands Plunge into Tuesday’s 52-Week Low Club

August 7, 2018: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 100 equities making new 52-week lows in Tuesday’s session. On the NYSE advancers led decliners by about 1.11 to 1 and on the Nasdaq, advancers led decliners by about 1.24 to 1.

Dentsply Sirona Inc. (NASDAQ: XRAY ) traded down nearly 20% Tuesday to set a new 52-week low of $38.83. Shares closed at $48.44 on Monday, and the 52-week high is $68.98. Volume was nearing 10 times the daily average of around 2.5 million. The maker of various dental products reported better-than-expected results this morning, but guidance sent investors rushing to the exits.

Newell Brands Inc. (NYSE: NWL) traded down about 4.9% Tuesday to post a new 52-week low of $21.65 after closing Monday at $22.76. The stock’s 52-week high is $51.40. Volume was about triple the daily average of about 6.2 million shares.

Barrick Gold Corp. (NYSE: ABX) traded down about 2.4% Tuesday and posted a new 52-week low of $10.75 after closing Monday at $11.01. The stock’s 52-week high is $18.35. Volume totaled around 11.7 million, about 35% above the daily average. A report on gold outflows from ETFs didn’t help miners today.

Dean Foods Co. (NYSE: DF) dropped about 14% Tuesday to set a new 52-week low of $8.11. Shares closed at $9.47 on Monday and the stock’s 52-week high is $12.85. Volume was more than seven times the daily average of around 1.2 million. The company beat estimates this morning but cut full-year guidance.
